A Halloween Themed Art Show

Pushing Up Pumpkins (PUP) will be in its 3rd year this Halloween. It started off as a way to showcase the artwork of not only the staff at Mercury Tattoo Studio, but also to show the work of many of the talented friends and customers of the shop. There are no limitations on the medium for this show, so expect to see paintings, photographs, blown glass, and sculpture. The only limitation to the artists is the theme. Any submitted work needs to be in some way related to Halloween. Be it directly Halloween themed, Autumn themed, or simply dark and creepy.

The kick off for the show is the last Sunday before Halloween. This year the opening party is set for Sunday, October 26th, 2008. If you have been to the opening in the past you know it is not a typical art opening. We try to make it more of a Halloween party then a stuffy art opening. Many of the pieces showing are for sale. Mercury does not take a percentage of the sale, so that allows the artist to sell their work in a much more affordable price range.

Last years show was an incredible time. In the gallery section of this website, you can find photos from the opening, as well as a section showing the artwork that was hanging. Most of the individual pieces also have contact information for the artist responsible. Some of the pieces may still be available for sale in the artists collection. When this years show is up, we will be able to sell the work through this website as well as in person. Again, 100% of the sale cost goes to the artist.
